At Last!

The long awaited update! I'm surprised I didn't get phone calls or e-mails from my followers!
It is fitting that my last blog was of Emma walking across the house, because life certainly changed once she became a walker! And I might add that we are down to one nap a day, so that leaves mommy little time to do anything extra! Things have been non-stop, but so much fun!
Above is a slide show of some of the highlights over the past month. Jason and I actually left Emma for the first time longer than one night and took a week long vacation to California. It was awesome!!! We had a great time, but were glad to get back to our sweet little girl. And indeed she is that. She's not a baby anymore, but a little toddler who loves to explore, climb, and dance and play! Her newest tricks are climbing, feeding herself, and amazing us with her rapid growing vocabulary and understanding! Enjoy!

Little Emma Walker

We knew it was coming, Emma just waited until she
was ready. And when she was ready, she took off!
The past two weeks Emma has been walking around the house
exploring all by herself. That's right, no more dragging
Mommy all over the house!
Jason caught a quick video of her tonight walking
from one end of the house to the other.
The end of the video shows her new favorite thing to do,
besides walking everywhere, closing doors!

Four Wheeler Riding and Kayaking

For 4th of July weekend, we went with Jason's family to Watson, Oklahoma
and stayed in a nice big cabin overlooking Mountain Fork River.
We had so much fun!
Emma enjoyed checking out her cousin Austin's toys, one of her favorites;
the battery powered 4-wheeler!
While Mommy and Daddy enjoyed kayaking for the first time!
It was a very nice place and we hope to go back again someday.

Splash into Summer!

Emma and I took a water babies swim class
at the YMCA. She only fussed the first
few days when we first got in the water. But after
a few days of 100 degree temps, it felt like bath water!
She is so cute in her little bathing suit kicking
her little legs and feet under water.
This class is mainly to get babies used to being in the water,
no "real" instruction. Just some fun songs, kicking,
and trying to blow bubbles in the water.
KK came one day, and Daddy came on
another day to watch and take pictures.
It was fun! She even got a certificate and a bottle
of bubbles on the last day!

Mommy's Little Helper

Emma enjoys being my little helper.
She is good at helping me unload the silverware
from the dishwasher
and being a taste tester!

Take Me Out to the Ball Game

On June 1st we took Emma to her first baseball game.
We went to see our local baseball team;
the Shreveport Bossier Captains.
The weather was perfect. Emma enjoyed
walking up and down the stairs,
wearing her mommy out of course!
It was a fun time. Emma wasn't sure what to think about the mascot.
I have to admit, he did look a little shady!

Water Baby

With the temperatures getting into the 90's this weekend,
we thought it would be a good time to get out
Emma's water mat and swimming pool.
She wasn't sure what to think about it.
She liked the water mat, until it sprayed her in the face!
She didn't like the cold water in the pool. Next
time we'll give it more time to warm up!
The main thing of course was that she was
super cute in her swim suit and sun hat!
I can't wait for us to take our swim class at the Y in a few weeks!

Watch me go!

Emma started standing on her own last week.
Then Friday she took her first steps by herself.
This video was taken a few days later.
As you can see, she's going to be a little
speed walker! It won't be long
and we'll be running after her!

Big girl!

We still can't believe how fast Emma is growing!
Her hair is getting longer, thicker, and lighter.
She wears a bow almost everyday!
She enjoys feeding herself with a spoon,
so needless to say, mealtime can get very messy!
She can also stand by herself and has even taken a few steps!
We are working on getting a good video of her "walking."
Unfortunately  we weren't prepared the first time it happened;
we were getting her ready for bed. She was standing
holding onto her crib, wearing only a diaper, and she just let go and
took three steps towards me!
What a big girl!

Go bye bye

Emma's favorite thing to do is go "bye bye".
She crawls to the front door, stands up, and says
"bye, bye" (her most frequently used word)
while reaching for the door handle.

Then she gets the key to the door

and attempts to put on her hat!

She's ready to go!
"Bye, bye!"
